Overview
ʻĀina Atlas ("the app") is a Hawaiian land atlas that displays public parcel data, Hawaiian cultural context, and environmental information. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide this service.
Information We Collect
- Account information — If you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and, if you choose, your name and email address. We never receive your Apple ID password.
- Parcel searches — TMK numbers and addresses you search are transmitted to our server to return results. We do not retain a log of individual searches tied to your identity.
- Device name — Collected at sign-in for session management only.
- Saved parcels — If you save parcels (paid tier), they are stored on our server associated with your account.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Precise or background location data
- Contacts, photos, or any other device content
- Browsing history outside the app
- Payment card information (handled entirely by Apple)
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your account and maintain your session
- To return parcel data and enrichment results for your searches
- To store your saved parcels and preferences
- To send change alerts if you have enabled them (paid tier)
Third-Party Services
Parcel and geographic data is sourced from public Hawaii state GIS databases (geodata.hawaii.gov) and USGS. No personal information is transmitted to these services. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.
Children
ʻĀina Atlas is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated date above.
